The Research of Becoming

It’s been 114 days since I last posted here.

I didn’t plan the pause, but it happened. And now that I’m here—sitting with myself, finally letting words meet the page again—I realize the pause was the research. Life didn’t stop. I just stopped trying to explain it in real-time.

In these past 114 days, I’ve cycled through clarity, overwhelm, grief, softness, breakthroughs, stillness, and movement. I’ve doubted myself. Believed in myself. Started over. Sat down. Got back up. I’ve cried into pillows and laughed until I felt my ribs again. I’ve been living the question: Who am I becoming?

And maybe that’s the work.
Not the polished answer—but the ongoing attention to what’s happening inside as I live each day.

Becoming Is Research

Lately, I’ve been thinking of life as its own kind of study. Not in a cold, clinical way. But as an ongoing observation of truth unfolding. We live in cycles—days, weeks, months, years—and it’s easy to get caught in the repetition. But if you slow down just enough, you start to notice: there are patterns here. There are decisions being made—some consciously, some by default. There are signs, emotions, shifts.

Sometimes we wait too long to make a change because we don’t trust what we’re feeling. Or we rush into change because we don’t trust time itself. But I’m learning:

Trusting yourself doesn’t mean you have all the answers. It means you’re willing to keep watching the data of your own becoming.

Some of that data is loud—tears, panic, gut feelings.
Some of it is quiet—intuition, dreams, a shift in how you carry your body through a room.

All of it matters.

I’m Still In It

This post isn’t a declaration of arrival. I haven’t figured it all out. I’m still in the middle of it. Still asking questions. Still coming back to my breath. Still learning how to quiet the noise and listen to the me that I’m becoming.

But I’m also closer.
Closer to the woman I’ve envisioned.
Closer to the rhythms that honor my body.
Closer to the clarity that used to feel out of reach.
Closer to telling the truth—in full color, full voice, full faith.

And that’s why I’m writing again.

A New Chapter in the Archive

This post is the beginning of a return.

I’m starting here—with this conversation, this moment—and I’ll be working through the reflections, chats, and lessons I’ve collected these past few months. One post at a time. One breath at a time.

I believe in documenting not just what we go through, but how we survive, shift, and grow through it. Because this is not just a blog—it’s a living archive of the prescribed and the possible.

Welcome back.
Welcome forward.
Let’s keep becoming.

Be Great,

Stephanie

Slowing Down to Align

Sometimes clarity doesn’t arrive in a two-minute answer. Sometimes it takes days—or even weeks—of sitting with your life, your business, and your own heart to let truth rise to the surface.

Lately, I’ve been realizing that I am not meant to rush. When others expect quick decisions, my strength is actually in moving carefully. My alignment matters more than speed. I’ve been ironing out what’s happening in my personal life and across my businesses, noticing how everything intersects.

What I know is true about me right now is this:

  • I am walking a new path, and while it feels unfamiliar, it is mine.

  • I have been open to what’s calling me, even when I didn’t know how I’d reach it.

  • My courage is in the slowing down.

This season is teaching me that being deliberate is not weakness—it is the very thing that makes my foundation strong.

Be Great,

Stephanie

We Are Not the Game

They told us the world was already written—

in pixels and policies, in profits and prisons.
Told us to survive, not to imagine.
Told us to win, not to wake up.

But I have seen another world,
carved not in stone,
but in soul.

A world where truth is not dangerous,
where silence is not stolen
and ethics are not optional.

Where we don’t beg systems for dignity—
we build new systems with it.

I dream of cities stitched in integrity,
where power is no longer a predator,
and transparency lives in the bones of our institutions.

I dream of children who ask why,
and are met with microscopes, not muzzle.
Of algorithms that don’t harvest our trauma,
but hold it gently, learn to heal it.

I see a future
where compliance means communion,
where data is not a leash,
but a lantern.

Where the self is not hidden,
but held.
Where we are no longer players in someone else’s game—
but authors of our own revolution.

So let them keep their spectacle.
We are vision.
We are becoming.
We are the architects
of a world that remembers how to feel,
how to love,
how to live with its eyes wide open.

Returning to Myself: The Quiet Work of Nervous System Healing

There’s a kind of tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix. A quiet buzz beneath the skin, a breath you can’t quite exhale. Lately, I’ve been noticing that I’m not just physically exhausted—I’m systemically overwhelmed. Like my body has been holding its breath for years.

And the truth is: it has.

I’m learning now that this isn’t just anxiety. It’s not just stress. It’s the echo of survival mode—years of pushing through, holding it together, showing up, smiling, managing, and absorbing. My nervous system has been doing everything it can to protect me, and now it’s tired.

I’m not broken.
But I am being called back to wholeness.

For the first time, I’m not trying to fix myself. I’m listening. I’m giving space to the trembling. I’m giving softness to the parts of me that never got to rest. I’m choosing to build a relationship with my body, not just use it as a vehicle to “get through the day.”

This is sacred work.
It is small.
It is slow.
And it is enough.

I’m not doing it perfectly. Some days I forget. Some days I still try to outrun the stillness. But more and more, I’m learning to breathe on purpose. To notice where I am. To whisper, “You’re safe now,” to my chest. To recognize when joy shows up—no matter how brief—and let it sit beside me without guilt.

Nervous system healing isn’t glamorous.
It doesn’t happen on the surface.
It’s an internal unfolding—a return to truth.

If you’re here too, beginning this work… I see you.
Let’s not rush this. Let’s not demand that it look like progress.
Let’s just promise to return—again and again—to ourselves.

This is the new practice:
Safety. Slowness. Self-trust.
We’re not just surviving anymore.
We’re rebuilding a home inside our bodies.

Guidance is where I feel the most safe, when I feel I can guide myself into this trust. Download the Nervous System Healing Guide

A Mother's Mission Statement

My therapist gave me the assignment to write a Mission Statement for myself when it comes to being a mother. After a couple of sessions of stating, " I just don't want to mess up my kids", she guided me to think about what is it that makes a good mother. What do I posses that makes me a good mom. Whoa. never really had to answer that question, LOL, what makes me a good mom? I didn't jump into the thought process and allowed it to unfold for me. And allowed it to come to me of what best represents me as a mom.

I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin & friend. I often question if I am doing a good job at these roles as they are some of the most important relationships in my life. The role of a mother is one of the most admirable role one can be given. I just want to be good at it. One of the best questions I've asked myself was, What is my vision?

The moment the thought of you is Realized, I am no longer alone. I am nurturing the very existence of a whole life that is soon to become.

I will be responsible - have the ability to respond to situations with the most optimal path. Responding to my children, not to save them, but to guide them in the best direction for their understanding. To be accountable for my actions and my responses to them. Through clear direction and example, provide to them the a visual of how one should respond to situations when they have have a sense of their own awareness.

You will question if you are doing great, and you must insist you trust. To listen to the intuition inside of you that guides you to where you want to be, the unfolding of your life. Being aware of the creativity within you that allows you to go with the flow. I will foster innovation in my children, that when they see contrast, a light bulb goes off that leads them to innovate through self-expression and problem-solving. I will encourage them to pursue the purpose that guides them, I will encourage them to speak and let it be known what is it they are wanting. I will encourage them to be aware of the creativity they are participating in, so they will always be aware of where it is coming from.

I will guide my children to practice awareness, self-reflection and mindfulness. To be aware of their thoughts and where they are coming from. To know that when you are intentional with your words, actions and emotions, you are able to fulfill spaces that no other will ever be able to fill. That their goals and aspirations in life are their own and, they have the power to will the strive to the greatest lengths of  their intentions. I want to empower them to know that the how is never their responsibility, and through deep understanding of themselves, they will truly understand the power of intention.

I will promote to my children the value in the care consciousness of self. That they are to respond to the need of their emotional, physical, mental, spiritual and creative well-being. That this involves knowing when to take moments of quieting their mind through meditation, and self-preservation. To teach them that I am no exception when it comes to their responsibility for their self-care. I will teach my children to be kind to and respect themselves. And be mindful of what they consume so that they can always have the freedom of their own thinking.

I am anxious.

But I am more hopeful than fearful because it feels better. Be optimistic I tell myself. But I am. Very. But what quiets my optimism. REALITY! The nuances of there is no way that can happen, " Says Society".  It Always will do this ----->  The chips look like this. Not let them fall where they may, but let them fall.

I will guide my children to fall in love with making goals. To revere in the feeling they get when they set a goal. I will empower them to be optimistic. To expect it to always be the way they want. That it's attraction. To fall in love with the journey. The best feeling is when you get the idea of your goal, not the destination of it. My children will come to know what it means to journey in their lives and will look back and never regret a thing. I will guide them to be happy in that very journey every step and setback that really is apart of the journey because it always has to be. I will show them how to always give themselves grace, by modeling optimism, and by not only embracing a growth mindset, but continuing to grow.

My mission is to raise self-aware and connected children who are responsible, creative, intentional, care conscious and optimistic. I will give support and love to them guiding them to personally grow and make mindful connections. I am to encourage them to be compassionate to themselves in that they cannot give without ensuring their own wellbeing and when they are are mindful of this, they will have the power to make their impact on their communities and their world.

Finding You

Journeying through life, things start to become what it is. I remember as a child questioning things that did not make sense to me, wondering if I was then doing something wrong because I would think of things a different way. In a different perspective. We all have different perspectives, based on the individual experiences that we've had.

I recently asked myself, how do you find God?

I was raised in Church to an extent, my mother ensured we went to Sunday school and said our prayers before eating dinner. We learned the Lord's Prayer. I developed a belief that if I didn't pray on my knees God didn't hear me, or wouldn't find me worthy. When I made a mistake, I believed God would punish me by taking something dear to me away. Therefore you must be perfect and follow the living word of God. At twelve years old, this is the ideology of life in which I figured I would follow so that the very things I wanted in my life would come true. I understood that all things come from God, just didn't know how or why. Just knew I had been taught that all things come from Him. I made mistakes and waited for God to chastise my life, waited for all bad things that were to come to come. I prayed still hoping for some type of redemption, that God would grant me grace, would say I know you made this mistake, but it's okay, you still get to be what you have been called to be.

The frustration that stemmed from this cycle of hoping to please God in every moment of the day so that I could get the things I wanted, devoured me. It causes anxiety and worry, the very anticipation for something that I do no want to show up in my experience so that I can prove that I am not worthy. I hated not knowing who I was because of this. I had no idea who I was supposed to be, I know I liked things generally, which didn't really make up who I was to my core.

The first step came with the demolition of my belief system that I was unassumingly not even aware of. From the beginning, I questioned motives of others not because I didn't believe, but because the emotion did not match the action. I was confused on how one could say something but do the opposite. Until I found myself practicing the same beliefs, believing the same thoughts about something, I started questioning where was that coming from to start with. I broke down my beliefs, I still am, this is a journey that will go deep. To have to remove everything you've been taught and replace with your truth.

Believe in Your Truth.

My biggest fear with doing this was how do I reconnect with myself? I was scared to let go of the limited beliefs that no longer served my purpose, but I struggled with how. I researched. I read books. I meditated, I read more books. I'm still reading and meditating, I am at a point where I feel that I need to fully take back my power. I for the longest thought that I could do it on my own. But quickly realized that telling your truth to someone who is completely neutral could be beneficial, especially when the one person you have spent the last 13 years of your life with suggest that this may be the next step for you. A pure God-send.

Reconnect with you to reclaim Your Power.

The constant expansion. As you grow, you never stop. There's always going to be a need for your to expand, daily, moment by moment. You will never be complete, because there is no completion. I am okay with wanting to continue to strive to my greatness. I used to believe this meant you were ungrateful for what you had, that if you wanted more than want you had, then you were not grateful for what you had, and therefore selfish, greedy, etc. Grateful is a social emotion, it is a social-reaction that is used to show appreciation for what others do for you. When my reaction wasn't accepted, I was then labeled ungrateful. Being labeled as such didn't feel good. I questioned my very worthiness from this. If my worthiness  was based on my reaction to get more of what I wanted, then this would in turn also depend on how worthy I was based on my gratefulness, my expression of gratefulness. However, gratefulness is the show of emotion for appreciation for OTHERS. What about for self? How do you show appreciation for self?  Appreciation is recognizing the value and meaning of something. That something can be a person, object, anything. But most of all, it had to be me, I had to learn to see the value in me, the very self-worth that I thought came from others. Gratitude is the description of the feeling where appreciation is recognizing the feeling of the very value of what gratitude is.

Feel Self-Worth and believe it.

To bring this all together, no journey to finding yourself will be identical to anyone else, your perspective is validated because it is your journey. I will be starting therapy this week, and I am excited and curious as I believe this is the next step for me to stand in my purpose. I will continue to share my journey, insights and breakthroughs I have, the pretty and the ugly, the comfortable and uncomfortable. There is nothing more comfortable than the feeling of being able to stand in your truth, freely by finding you.

Be Great,

Be Great

Time to stop and ask myself, "Have I stopped moving since the beginning of 2022?

WOW, time to get it together. I figured I would relax and unwind get ready for another thing. I reflected on my day the other day and remembered telling a someone good luck and hated the sound of it. I hated it, as soon as it left my lips, I made a mental note, ewww, I have to think of something else to say.

During a night of reflection, I recalled a conversation I had with my youngest daughter about greatness. Why is it wrong to be great? Why do we as individuals sit down and decide we will dim our own light to help others. And why do we not wonder how is that helping? To see you trying to be as timid as possible because of what they know to be true? I understand humbleness, the sweetest kindness gesture to show that this is not to belittle you or make you feel inadequate, I am only being my best self. In this conversation with my daughter, I told her it is okay to be great. To put your best foot forward, and believe in you. I'm learning to do it. I am finding the way to allow myself to reach the potential of me, and if you believe its astronomical out of this world, then thanks for joining me.

My belief is my life will bring the awareness of what is already inside of anyone who comes into my experience, especially my children.  My desire for them is that they know that I always have sought, saw, and continue to see the greatness in them. In moments where I forget, I am reminded of the gratefulness in hearing them laugh, that a dream I had is true, and continues to come true.

The feeling of people constantly judging, trying to figure you out, we all do it, is purely a limitation of self and may bring a fear of will they accept me. But the difference is all in how do we do it, the intention.  When sending you, what are you conveying to the world, love, peace, joy? What you dish out, it will come back. I am learning to be who I am, no matter what, its the only way to be.

But in these moments of thinking of who is wondering, what did they say, love who you are, be who you are, be great. Love the inadequacies and make them to your liking, love on people even when they don't want to receive your love, be the beautiful person you came here to be. Wondering if you are doing too much, or too little and what  people saying you are, is an act of self-limiting beliefs. Don't be afraid to be you.

I found myself striving for the unattainable crown of perfection in fear that if I showed any imperfections the naysayers will say now, "You cant be that too". So I would dim my light in hopes that if I'm quiet, no one can point out the imperfections that I have dreamt up, and if I sit in the corner and be quiet, not make a sound, you don't see me. But you do. Because there is so much more. Where does your story begin, in every moment you decide to write your story, start living, the very essence of who you are, your truth. No matter where you are, it can always get bigger. And when others perceive your greatness to be bigger than their own, arrogancy may be a word that is used to describe you, however, know that your own importance of your abilities is exuberated through every single thing you do, so at the end of the day, Be Great!

Be Great,

the BEST we can!

I have been be reflecting to understand my inner self more deeply. In this journey, I have been able to understand what triggers my anxiety and what helps to minimize and reduce the occurrence and duration.

When I was younger, I didn't understand what anxiety was, mostly because even as a child, you may worry. it cam stem from peer issues, family issues, etc. However, I feel that a child's voice in the era that I grew up, was that children didn't have anything to worry about. But as children  we do, we may worry if we will win the video game we are playing, simple and not as essential as paying bills, but its a worry. Those same children grow into adults with many worries on top of worries that were never dealt with as children. During the early months of the pandemic, I was able to hide my anxiety and cope with it on the surface. The new norm for me was slowly starting to rear itself. working from home, the political energy around masks, ,etc. and not being able to walk my Kindergartner into his "big" school for the first time, on the surface, nothing bothered me. Until I became so unbothered, that the unbothered emotions started to bother me.

I had to find my happy again. Where did it go. It seemed it had only been a short amount of time that I was feeling this way, but it was meeting more than a couple of months. Watching a world seek to go back to a normal of yesterday, made me more aware that something was not right within myself. The constant measure gauge in my head was go from if I am doing too much or too little, a feeling of relief  came over me and I said literally out loud, "I am doing the best I can." With so much affirmation and understanding, It was immediate, I no longer felt guilty for doing too much or too little.  I am doing the best I can, WE all are doing the best we can, where we are, the experiences we've had and are currently in, influences the best of what we can do.

I realized that the unsurfaced anxiety I was feeling was building up and building up fast. I then had to come to reality that my normal had changed, dramatically without warning, and the irony I had to understand is, so had every single other person in the world (the irony is some may not know it)  I had went from having approximate 2 hour commute to literally being about 25 steps from my "office". The immediate perception of my dramatically decreased commute would and should be positive, right? Sure did, in that it helped with my work life balance and give me so much more time for doing other things in my life in addition to working.... this was all new to me.

To reground myself, I needed to Rest, Rehydrate, Reflect and Revitalize.

Rest - I hadn't been getting much rest, staying up late and getting and hour here and there, with a stretch of 4 hours at the most. I started to be mindful of what time I went to sleep, and taking naps! If my kids were okay and occupied, I took an hour nap. I didn't realize how much this helped me cope with the everyday stresses of life.

Rehydrate - I started paying attention to the amount of water I was drinking daily, and made it intentional to drink at least 32 oz a day. The feeling of being hydrated made me feel so much better.

Reflect - I started doing a daily reflection of my day. I started seeing what was there. The way I felt and then thought about what happened and what role I played in it, no matter what is was, rather it was cutting somebody off (hey, you never stop growing). I reflected on if I was consistent with being the best version of myself throughout the day. Was I intentional with being present, did I make sure I made somebody feel good about themselves. I always cheer, however I feel like sometimes my drive makes others uncomfortable. So I had to be more intentional with others emotions in that sense, show a little more compassion to those who need it, but in a healthy way. With truth. Reflections allowed me to be present.

Revitalize-  search within yourself the feeling of new and vitality. I started renewing my feelings, searching for the better feeling. Sometimes we can allow ourselves to get in spaces that we know aren't what we want. We allow ourselves to fester in places that are unwanted. I'm coming to understand that to revitalize means to reach for that better feeling, all the time, not just for one day, more like every minute of the day, that you will have to intentionally reach for that better feeling.   Discover the feeling being conscious of what you feel and reach for the better feeling, revitalize.

I am leaving you with a disclaimer that I am not an expert at this, and am moving through the new norm just as everyone else, and my advice is the facts of my experience, and I am giving the opinion of what one may want to try based on my experience to use at their own discretion. Some days are good, some not the best, but I am grateful for each moment. It has been such a different journey during this time in that things seems so uncertain, but in these times we must rely on what we know best, things can be okay, and we are doing the best we can, do your best everyday, to the capacity of what you can, but make sure it is your best, if you know you aren't do the work so that you can give your best self, Rest.Rehydrate.Reflect.Revitalize. I am practicing these and have found peace in this practice, take from this what you believe that will help you!

Be Great,
   Stephanie

Gabby's Eczema Cream

10 years ago, I was given the challenge of raising a child with eczema.  Though this condition may seem minute to an array of other challenges parents may face, this was something I was completely naïve to. After failed prescribed remedies, I researched the best natural options. Through trial and error, I curated a cream that is full of ingredients that all work together to provide the best nourishment for skin needing extra TLC.

The ingredients are as follows:

  • 8oz Shea Butter
  • 2oz Mango Butter
  • 1oz Murumuru Buttter
  • .4oz jojoba oil
  • .10 grapeseed oil
  • Essential oils:
  • Ginger
  • Juniper Berry
  • Patchouli
  • Cedarwood
  • Tea tree
  • Peppermint

I measure each butter separate and add into a clear bowl that is put on a double boiler to melt. It usually takes approximately 30 minutes for the butters to completely melt on medium setting.

I forgot to take a picture of the butters in the double boiler 😞(I'm trying to get better), but when all butter are melted, it should look like yellow opaque soup....Yum! Take out and allow to cool in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

Put in a mixer and add the essential oils. For butter this size, I do not allow more than 48 drops total of essential oils to allow for a low dilution since this is for sensitive skin. Place in a mixer and allow to mix until a whipped consistency is formed, it should take approximately 30 minutes.

Put in a gallon sized Ziploc bag, cut the bottom for
a hole and pipe into your desired container.

This usually lasts my daughter about 2 weeks  in that she moisturizes very frequently.  I hope this works out for you as it did for Kaitlyn!

If you decide to make it, I am happy to hear of any feedback you have you made, and if it worked out for you. Feel free to comment below!

Be Great,

Make time for you!

We all want to be better. Whether it's a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, etc. We want to be a beacon a light that gives everyone hope. However with the bustle of trying to be better, I often found myself missing being the light for me. So often it's believed that sacrifice is the reward and crown of all good deeds. As a mom, I've felt this was the expectation.  Being a mom, you kind of sign up for a giving situation, however, as mothers, we have to understand there are moments when we have to take the time to ensure that we are okay mentally, spiritually and physically.

Promoting Self-Esteem

Growing up in a world where the delight of your appearance outweighed the intentions of your heart was how I used to view the world. I thought the harder I scrubbed my skin, I would magically become a shade lighter in which I believed I would be liked more. Now bringing two girls into the world, I am tasked with the most important job of all, although at times I believe I should have been fired years ago, I strive to remember what I needed at their ages and provide the best guidance I can. Self-Esteem has always been an issue for me. Finding myself has taken time, however I am grateful for the experiences as I continue to embark on this transformation and becoming a better wife, mom, friend, etc.

Self Esteem - is the confidence in one's own worth and abilities. I charge my girls daily with, "you have to have high self-esteem I say, you have to carry yourself with self-respect, you...wait... do they even know what it means to have "high" self-esteem? I thought back to what I needed at their age, what needed to be said, taught, understood of me. To help them not require validation from others, but to understand the importance of strength and confidence in who they are. As I explored the how, I realized that it wasn't my six word sentence that would prepare my children for the world, but how I interacted with them and respected how they felt. All in all, how to be responsive to their needs. I started using the below points to help me help them.
